Catalogue
The service is entirely mail order and all of our items are available
to view on our on-line
catalogue.
Each item has one or more preview allowing you to view photographs,
read the leaflets and even watch the first five minutes of the videos
- all on your computer screen!
Once you have registered with us you can also book and order items
straight from the catalogue too.
The system is easy to use but, like
anything new, may seem awkward and slow the first few times you use
it.
Receiving and returning items
Items you have booked or ordered get sent to you via the NHS Internal
Mail. If you're not based on an NHS site then there are various
collection points across Berkshire that you can use, or you might
be able to arrange with a local surgery to act as a collection/return
point.
The Internal Mail delivers and collects items to virtually all NHS
sites across Berkshire, and is completely free.
If you work at an NHS site and have the NHS
Internal Mail then please always select this as your delivery
method.
Items will then be delivered straight to you and we provide
an address label for it's return.

There are seven Collection/Return Points across Berkshire:

want

No Internet?
If you do not have access to the Internet at your place of work then
there are several options. You could use a public library with
an Internet facility or an Internet café. There are
more details further down this page.
On-line Resources Catalogue
Our
only catalogue of items is on-line. Click the Catalogue
button on the main Resource Service page to go to it.
Make sure you download and read the Basic
User Guide before trying to use the catalogue. It will show you
the easiest way to use the system and help you avoid the common mistakes
people make on their first attempts.
You can search for items in various different ways.
The search results include descriptions, photographs, PDF
previews of leaflets and 5min video clips of videos.
What do I need to view these?
The catalogue should work perfectly
well on almost any computer, however you may need to install some
software to view all the previews.
PDF leaflet previews
You will need to have a PDF viewer installed to view
these. The best reader, with the most features, is the original
Adobe Acrobat Reader, but others are available.
It may already be installed as it often comes included
with other software, but it can be downloaded for free from the Adobe
web site www.adobe.com
Video clips
The clips are designed to work well even on a dial-up
modem connection.
The clips are in Windows Media format so you
will need the Windows Media Player to view them. Windows
PCs usually have this installed by default, but if you use an Apple
Mac then you will need to check that you have it installed and download
it if necessary.
It can be downloaded for free from the Microsoft web
site at: www.microsoft.com/mediaplayer
