Let's keep our teeth healthy

  • Restrict sweet foods and drinks to mealtimes.
  • Brush teeth twice a day using a pea size blob of fluoride tooth paste.  Brush using a soft small headed toothbrush.
  • After brushing ‘spit’ - don’t rinse or swallow.
  • Drink water between meals.
  • Visit the dentist at least once a year for a check up.

 

Let’s keep our children’s teeth healthy Children Smiling

  • Brush your child’s teeth as soon as the first one appears.
  • For young children brush teeth twice a day using a smear of family fluoride tooth paste.
  • For children over 5 years brush teeth twice a day using a pea size blob of family fluoride toothpaste.
  • An adult should help young children with their tooth brushing.
  • Brush with a soft small headed toothbrush.
  • After brushing ‘spit’ - don’t rinse or swallow.
  • The early months are the best opportunity to influence what a child will enjoy drinking as they grow up - MILK and WATER are best.
  • Drink water between meals.
  • Keep sugary foods and drinks to mealtimes only.
  • Bedtime drink – water only.
  • Sweets can be eaten at mealtimes or better still - just once a week.
  • Medicines – use sugar free medicines for the family.
  • Ask you dentist when to start taking your child for their ‘first check-up.
  • Take your child to the dentist at least once a year for a check up.
