Let's keep our teeth healthy
Restrict sweet foods and drinks to mealtimes.
Brush teeth twice a day using a pea size blob of fluoride tooth paste. Brush using a soft small headed toothbrush.
After brushing ‘spit’ - don’t rinse or swallow.
Drink water between meals.
Visit the dentist at least once a year for a check up.
Let’s keep our children’s teeth healthy
Brush your child’s teeth as soon as the first one appears.
For young children brush teeth twice a day using a smear of family fluoride tooth paste.
For children over 5 years brush teeth twice a day using a pea size blob of family fluoride toothpaste.
An adult should help young children with their tooth brushing.
Brush with a soft small headed toothbrush.
After brushing ‘spit’ - don’t rinse or swallow.
The early months are the best opportunity to influence what a child will enjoy drinking as they grow up - MILK and WATER are best.
Drink water between meals.
Keep sugary foods and drinks to mealtimes only.
Bedtime drink – water only.
Sweets can be eaten at mealtimes or better still - just once a week.
Medicines – use sugar free medicines for the family.
Ask you dentist when to start taking your child for their ‘first check-up.
Take your child to the dentist at least once a year for a check up.
