National Falls Awareness Day 2008 - 24th June May 2008 National Falls Awareness Day is run each year by Help the Aged. The theme for 2008 is 'Stepping Out'. The main messages are:

The guideline which includes links to falls prevention is aimed primarily at professionals who are in a position to prescribe medication. The PCT’s Operational Policy East Berkshire Falls Service for Older People has also been finalised and will become available during November 2007 on this website as well as via the PCT website www.berkshireeast-pct.nhs.uk Interested in hard-back information about the local Falls Service? Nov 2007 The Falls Service Implementation Groups have developed an information pack about the East Berkshire Integrated Falls Pathway. The pack is available free of charge to professionals or volunteers working in any setting within East Berkshire. The pack has a core contents which includes basic information such as referral forms, useful phone numbers and basic falls and fracture assessment tools with optional add-on information specific to the service sector you work in. Falls and Fracture Prevention Training Nov 2007 For those within the PCT who have identified a need to learn more about causes and prevention of falls and fragility fractures, a training course will commence early 2008. The sessions will take three hours and will also include instruction on how to get someone off the floor safely, following risk assessment.
