Specialist Services that make a difference

In east Berkshire we have three Falls Prevention Clinics:

  • Birch Hill Health Centre and Great Holland's Health Centre in Bracknell - Temporarily suspended
  • St. Mark's Day Hospital in Maidenhead
  • Upton Day Hospital in Slough.

At a falls clinic people aged 65 and over are offered an in-depth assessment by a physician, nurse, physiotherapist and occupational therapist.  Most also participate in a special falls prevention exercise programme and receive advice on healthy eating, home hazards, how to get up after a fall etc.

Those older people whose falls are due to environmental and/ or mobility problems only, can be seen by a physiotherapist and/or occupational therapist in their own home if this is more appropriate.

  • Tilt Table Clinic at the Upton Day Hospital and the Rapid Access Syncope Clinic at King Edward VII Hospital in Windsor for assessment of patients with suspected syncope (loss of consciousness) or near syncope.
